How to make a paper T Rex skeleton.

Our challenge was to work in our dinosaur research pairs create a prototype of our dinosaur’s skeleton. The challenge was to make teh skeleton of our dinosaur and record the steps we followed. Once we had our first prototype we revised and adapted both the prototype and the instructions.

We used the language features found in a procedural text to help us write clear instructions so that another pair could follow our instructions and create our prototype.

LI: To understand poetry can transform everyday life into something meaningful.
Poets use various techniques to make this happen, creating specific feelings and moods for the reader.

For reading this week we needed to create a Google vid that show casess one of Hone Tuwhare Poems, the one we have chosen was “Rain”.  First we needed to create images using volcabulary to illustrate more images using prompts to connect to the poem.

Then we needed to record ourselves reading the poem, alternating through each stanza.  Something I found interesting about Hone Tuwhare was that, New Zealanders choose their best-loved poem, placed Tuwhare’s poem Rain at number one.

Paired research

LI: to research questions about your dinosaur including their habitat, diet, predators, and protection.

Our challenge was to create a DLO that tells others about the dinosaur we found when we excavated our dinosaur eggs.  My partner and I found the skeleton of a T Rex. One fact about the TRex was that they are as big as a bus.

AI movie

For inquiry we made eggs that we opened in order to find out what dinosaur we got, and what dinosaur we got we needed to research about, like habitats and what it eats.  Then we needed to make a Video using AI of our dinosaur doing something and my dinosaur

  • LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils.

for this task We used our Ai skill Dinosaur fossils are the old bones and shapes of dinosaurs that people find buried in the ground. Sometimes, tiny pieces of these bones turn into stones called fossils. Artificial intelligence (Ai) can help scientists find and understand these fossils better. Imagine you have a digital museum app that shows pictures of dinosaur fossils. When you ask, “Tell me AI Dinosaur Fossils,” the app quickly finds pictures and facts about dinosaur fossils that are stored and analyzed using artificial intelligence, making it easy for you to learn about different dinosaurs and their fossils without searching through books or websites manually.

Fossils

LI: To recognise different types of fossils and how they are formed.

Our challenge was to create a Google Draw that shows clearly labelled  examples of each fossil type. Something I found interesting was that I got to learn about Body fossils and Trace fossils , Body fossils are actual parts of the dinosaur and the trace fossils are the footprints or marks of the anchent life.

Paleontology

LI: To create a 50 word statement by explaing what is a paleontologist and what do they do ?

Our challenge was to create a 50 word statement that tells us what paleontology is and what palaontologists do. We found out that a Paleontologist is someone who studies the history of the life before us and shows the remain of the living things from centuries ago.I found this task hard because we can only use 50 words and that’s pretty hard to write all of your ideas and to count to see if you got it correct.

Mary Anning

LI: To create a DLO that tells Mary Annings story from her perspective story.

Last week on Friday LS2 did some resaurh on a lady named Mary Anning and could make a DLO/kahoot etc. Something I learnt was that she first found her first ever bone when she was 12.
