Time Traveller’s Podcast ft Samuel Marsden

For Literacy we have been using our Inquiry knowledge to help us write questions that we might have asked Reverend Samuel Marsden had we had the chance to meet him and talk to him. This was a fun activity because we took on the roles of Samuel Marsden and the Time Traveller’s Podcast team. It was like we experienced actually meeting him.

We learned that when you are recording a podcast expression is everything! It makes what we have to say more engaging.

Exploring AI

LI: To identify and understand how descriptive language is used to create a clear picture of a setting in a text.

This is the image I created using the Adobe Express. I found this activity challenging because we had to use our own idea to create our image  but I found it fun because we got to use our imagination to gena

Something I learnt when using prompts for AI is good for createing task for our learning.

The Kokako

LI: To use our smart searching skills

Our Year 7/8 camp was at Kokako Lodge in Hunua. Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words.

Something I found interesting about the kokako bird was that  the oldest known-age of a kōkako is eleven years, but they may live for twenty years or more.

Fijian Language Week

Today I learnt about how to speak Fijian and learn a fact file about Fiji.

First I learnt about how to speak and talk in a conversation. There are many ways on how to talk in a conversation in Fiji. For example: Bula that means (hello), Vacava tiko that means (how are you?). One of my ways on starting a conversation is: Bula, na yacaqu o Ene. O cei na yacamau?

Next I learnt about a fact file about fiji. A fact file is information about what Fiji is about. For example: if a person doesn’t know anything about Fiji, you can show them a fact file about Fiji and they would learn about Fiji. There are many types of information in a fact file like: the population, captial city of Fiji, and the Fiji flag.

I enjoyed this task about Fiji lanuage week because it was enjoyable and fun to learn about Fiji.
