Dinosour egg

  • LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils.

for this task We used our Ai skill Dinosaur fossils are the old bones and shapes of dinosaurs that people find buried in the ground. Sometimes, tiny pieces of these bones turn into stones called fossils. Artificial intelligence (Ai) can help scientists find and understand these fossils better. Imagine you have a digital museum app that shows pictures of dinosaur fossils. When you ask, “Tell me AI Dinosaur Fossils,” the app quickly finds pictures and facts about dinosaur fossils that are stored and analyzed using artificial intelligence, making it easy for you to learn about different dinosaurs and their fossils without searching through books or websites manually.

Paleontology

LI: To create a 50 word statement by explaing what is a paleontologist and what do they do ?

Our challenge was to create a 50 word statement that tells us what paleontology is and what palaontologists do. We found out that a Paleontologist is someone who studies the history of the life before us and shows the remain of the living things from centuries ago.I found this task hard because we can only use 50 words and that’s pretty hard to write all of your ideas and to count to see if you got it correct.

Time Traveller’s Podcast ft Samuel Marsden

For Literacy we have been using our Inquiry knowledge to help us write questions that we might have asked Reverend Samuel Marsden had we had the chance to meet him and talk to him. This was a fun activity because we took on the roles of Samuel Marsden and the Time Traveller’s Podcast team. It was like we experienced actually meeting him.

We learned that when you are recording a podcast expression is everything! It makes what we have to say more engaging.

Photo Story

LI: To understand the concept of visual storytelling

These Images show how our Tamaki awa hiko went in time order (ascending order), we needed to gather images and place it in time sequence.  During our Tamaki awa hikoi we talked about how Smauel Marsden could of Felt or what he could see sailing down the tamaki river.

A Moment in Time

LI: To write a poem that describes a moment in time

At camp we had lots of challenge activities to try. Our challenge in with our poem was to chose our words carefully so that we painted a clear picture of what we were describing in the mind of our readers. Donyal and I have described what it was like to shoot a bow and arrow. We chose this challenge because I wanted to experience how it felt to shoot a bow and arrow.

Kauri Dieback

LI: To use our smart searching skills

One of our challenegs at camp was to walk the Cossey- Massey track at Hunua. Before we entered the bush we had to make sure our shoes were disinfected. This DLO tells why we needed to do this and why we need to help prevent the spread of Kauri Dieback.

I think this is an important message to share because if you go on a walk and you see one of these trees you should be really careful.

Working in groups

LI: To understand that everyone has a role to play when we are working in groups

In LS2 we learn best when we learn with and from ecah other

What your responsibility as a group member is

How working in a group helped you understand more about the kuaka

Why talking to others about your learning is important

Something I enjoyed was we talked alot and we caloaberated.

Exploring AI

LI: To identify and understand how descriptive language is used to create a clear picture of a setting in a text.

This is the image I created using the Adobe Express. I found this activity challenging because we had to use our own idea to create our image  but I found it fun because we got to use our imagination to gena

Something I learnt when using prompts for AI is good for createing task for our learning.

The Kokako

LI: To use our smart searching skills

Our Year 7/8 camp was at Kokako Lodge in Hunua. Our challenge today was to use our smart searching skills to find out about the kokako bird and create an infographic to share the facts we researched in our own words.

Something I found interesting about the kokako bird was that  the oldest known-age of a kōkako is eleven years, but they may live for twenty years or more.
