Panmure basin art

This week PBS went on a school walk to the Panmure Basin. It was an exciting and fun journey. During the walk we learn about the mangrove tree’s that grow in the water, and the Taniwha, Moko Ika Hiku Waru, that lived under the Bridge at the basin. After we got back from the walk our task was to trace an landscape of the Panmure basin. This was fun and enjoyable to do.

Contrast

LI: To use AI to create an image that shows the contrast between events or characters.

For reading, we had to make an AI image showing the contrast between Bruno and Shmuel from The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Contrast basically means how two things are total opposites.

In my image, I wanted to show how different their lives actually are. It highlights the contrast in their appearance, and how it shows what its like in their own world.

The Boy in Striped Pajamas Chapter 12

Bruno listened. The boy Shmuel told a very terrible story. Dirt all over Shmuel’s face, yet he still tries to play it off by smiling at Bruno like it’s ok. When Bruno hears everything about how Shmuel was cramped on the train, Bruno just looks down at the dirt. The air inside the wooden train was suffocatingly hot as dozens of frightened people cried out in the darkness for a single sip of water. Pure heartbreak. That sounds awful, Bruno whispers. How could a simple armband change someone’s whole life? Bruno looked at his friend Shmuel, felt a heavy weight in his chest and wished he could fix it. He has now finally discovered that the world is more brutal than he has ever imagined.

Tree Octopus

LI: To carry out a guided reasearch process.

This task had many lessons, but that will be disclosed later on in this post. But for this task we carried out reaserch on the North-West Pacific Tree Octopus which you can also call Octopus Paxarbolis. This is a octopus that navigates in rainforests, using the powerful suckers located across their tentacales.

More information will be shown in the DLO which will be by the end.

For now, lets focus on those ‘lessons’ that I was talking of in the start. The truth is, this “Tree Octopus” is actually a internet hoax, which means its actually fictional. Yes you heard right, this is a made up sea creature that has websites of websites of information located all across the internet.

Learning Conversation Chapter 10

I continued searching. The time seemed to stretch. I began to grow hungry, but as I was going to give up I saw a small spec. My curiosity took over, before I knew it the spec grew and formed into a childlike figure. The sight encouraged me, making me want to push forwards, and as I approached this figure I realised it was a young boy, my inquisitiveness motivated me to greet him. Interest sparked. As he greeted me back.

“What are you doing here all by yourself?” I questioned

Why was this boy here all alone? I stared into the sad eyes of this boy, sat down, and began to speak. After conversing with each other we both realised we were more alike.

The boy in the Stripped Pajama chapter 9

Bruno had enough. He couldn’t handle Gretel’s attitude. Memories of Berlin started to fade from his mind, and his urge to explore was still thriving.  Although the soldiers always came in and out of fathers office, yet the office was still out of bounds. The repeated sounds of the servants washing, cooking, and cleaning overcame the emotion of the house. Total emptiness. “Why should school take place, when there are only 2 students to teach?” he said. Why did his tutor believe storybooks didn’t matter?. Bruno wondered why the people in striped pajamas never visited his house, he realised he hadn’t thought about Berlin in a while, and decided to go explore although it was against the rules.. His chapter in Berlin was completed.
