Building Hope

After reading Diary of Anne Frank and The boy in the striped pyjamas we talked about what people must have felt like having thier whole word turned upside down.

cant imagine what if felt like in there shoes in my opinion i think that most people could not last a day in there shoes.

yesterday we discussed how we could put thier cloth of dreams back togerther again for this activity was inspierd by the book Teaspoon of Light.

Chapter 15 Learning conversation

Bruno despised Lieutenant Kotler. Father was called back to Berlin for a trip. Lieutenant Kotler was in charge but Bruno wanted to be the man of the house. Although Father was absent from Out-With, Mother planned a birthday party for him. Shmuel’s glass polishing filled the tense air as Bruno quietly cut some leftovers to sneakily share with his friend. Cold, sudden fear. “Who gave you permission to speak in this house?” Lieutenant Kotler screamed. What would Father think of this situation? Every afternoon that followed, Bruno returned to the same spot at the fence, where he finally found Shmuel and tearfully apologized for his cowardly behaviour. Bruno noticed Shmuel’s scars, but Shmuel whispered that nothing hurt anymore. Reaching under the wire, their hands met for the very first time.

Mood , Atmosphere and Characterisation

In reading, my group created a DLO about different types of characters and how mood and atmosphere are used in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. We explained the difference between protagonists and antagonists, as well as round and flat characters. We also explored how mood and atmosphere affect the way readers feel during important parts of the story.

While working on this task, we used examples from the text to explain our ideas more clearly. It was interesting learning how different characters have different roles in a story and how the atmosphere can make scenes feel tense, emotional, or uncomfortable.

This activity helped me understand how authors use characters and setting to shape the mood of a story and create stronger emotions.
